Drinking these teas can extend your life! We’re not sure if we want to live forever, but living longer is definitely something we can make up for.
And while we can’t extend our lives as long as we’d like, there are ways we can at least try to extend our lives. These teas may be one of the keys to a longer life.
- The longest-lived people
Dan Buettner, Zones, has noted that different regions of the world are home to some of them. He called these areas “blue zones”.
These blue zones include parts of Costa Rica, Greece, Italy, Japan, and even in California. What do they have in common? All these people drink tea. And Büttner told us which tea people in the Blue Zones drink most often.
2.Green Tea
In Japan, in the Okinawa region, green tea is mainly drunk. Büttner told Well + Good, “Okinani favors green varieties, which have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and several types of cancer.” Green tea contains multiple antioxidants and multiple amino acids, making it one of the healthiest teas.
3.Tisanes In Greece
in the region of Ikaria, we mainly drink herbal teas. Büttner told Well + Good, “Ikarians drink tea infusions made with rosemary, wild sage, and dandelion, all herbs known for their anti-inflammatory properties.” Another benefit of herbal tea? Apparently, drinking lots of herbal teas can even reduce the risk of dementia or some chronic diseases.
The Greeks prepare their teas with wild herbs, which also have other benefits. According to Büttner, “Greek teas may have specific beneficial effects: wild mint to prevent gingivitis and ulcers, rosemary to treat gout, and Artemisia to improve circulation.
4.Milk Thistle
Tea is drunk in Sardinia, Italy.
This type of tea also has amazing benefits. It aids in digestion, removes waste from the body and contains essential vitamins and minerals that the body needs. So if you want to live longer, you might want to start your day with one of these teas.
5.Coffee
coffee lovers: your daily dose of coffee can extend your life. In fact, a 2018 study analyzing data from about half a million British adults found that coffee drinkers, even those who drank decaffeinated coffee, were less likely to die from a variety of diseases during the study period than they were 10 years ago.
“In addition to antioxidants, which can reduce inflammation, there are also studies that suggest coffee may reduce the risk of liver cancer, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, colon cancer, and stroke,” says Dr. piano.
Adding a ton of cream and sugar could obviously negate those health benefits, so it’s best to flavor your coffee with a dash of unsweetened nut milk or 2% milk and non-caloric spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, which are known to stabilize your blood sugar.

A cup of green tea keeps the doctor away, as the saying goes. “The antioxidants in green tea support immunity and protect your heart health by lowering cholesterol,” says Dr. piano. In fact, research from Japan has found that green tea drinkers live longer, and a 2020 study suggested that drinking green tea is associated with a lower risk of death in people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes .
